The Mission:

RCA is an iconic American electronics brand with a 100-year legacy They are one of the companies that built technology to change life as we know it, with creations including the first color tv, the first nationwide broadcasting company (NBC), and the world’s first communications satellite. Nevertheless, RCA in early 2020 had no effective digital presence and needed to rethink its digital strategy. They turned to TDT.

TDT's focus was the creation of a social strategy combining RCA's impressive heritage with modern values in tune with the brand and its audience.

PROJECT CASE STUDY — Engagement

Boosting engagement and followers:

TDT successfully connected with RCA’s sizable audience using a unique and distinctive voice. TDT then amplified this voice using a pinpoint boosting strategy that resulted in a surge of engagement and followers.

Within less than 6 months, TDT increased the number of Instagram followers by 14x and increased engagement by more than 20x.

PROJECT CASE STUDY — RCA - Best Friends - Pentatonix

 

Partnership with Best Friends and Pentatonix:

To celebrate RCA’s 100th anniversary, TDT put together a large digital campaign. Our idea was to have the brand give back to the community by supporting a cause in line with the brand’s identity: Animal adoption--a cause that the brand’s loyal mascots Nipper & Chipper would approve of!

 

To illustrate support, TDT formed a collaboration between RCA, Best Friends Animal Society, and Kirstin of the hit a cappella group Pentatonix, hired to be the ambassador for this great cause.

TDT produced a heartfelt video that was widely promoted to people across the US using 3 platforms: Youtube, Facebook, and Instagram.

Magic Dogs Contests and Giveaway:

To raise brand awareness and boost engagement, TDT launched a giveaway for a dreamy grand prize including a stunning red RCA fridge and a 55” TV. By the end of the giveaway, there were over 44,000 entrants along with a massive increase of followers across multiple social media platforms!

To further boost engagement and reach a new younger audience, the strategy called for RCA to execute 6 monthly dog-themed contests in-line with the company mascots: Nipper & Chipper! Hashtags included #RCAfamilyDog, #RCASpookiestDog, #RCALaziestDog, #RCAHolidaysDog, and more! These contests ran on social media, spurring a younger audience to engage with RCA using pictures of their dogs according to the hashtag themes.
